![]() Paul Ullson: Arundel Castle Events Coordinator Certainly one of the most successful days we have had, great team effort by all. The very good weather certainly drew out the visitors, and the feedback and comments were all positive at what people saw and did over the day. The addition of have-a-go Artillery etc and craft tent was a great addition to the event, and certainly added to the visitor experience, especially the younger children. On behalf of all at Arundel Castle can I pass on our thanks and appreciation for your support, hard work and participation in the History Day at the castle. which is invaluable when going back to life in the Stone Age and compare it to life in the Bronze and Iron Ages too. Also we really enjoyed building Stonehenge as it was the ability to work as a team (so important) and it gave children the knowledge that Stonehenge was built over a number of years as technology is not like it is now! Also I could refer back to it, 'do you remember when'. I like that the range of some tasks were open-ended and it gave children opportunities to work together. Everybody joined in all the activities and it was at the child's particular level that they accessed it. I liked the way you began the session with looking at the facts that the children had learnt and talking about Life in the Stone Age and the fact that it wasn't easy! The workshop was praised in my staff meeting as Ofsted guidelines say that students should have lots of hands on experiences to enhance the learning of topics within the curriculum. My Year 3's totally enjoyed the Stone Age Day and it brought the learning that they had done 'alive'.
